Christmas time is one of those milestones that we want to mark for our little ones.  If it's your baby's first Christmas, it's an exciting time in your home!  Your infant will be mesmerized by all the shiny tinsel and lights, and will have the opportunity to meet many relatives. 

Save the Memories with Keepsakes

One thing we did for our children is take their picture on Santa's knee or by the Christmas tree in a special t-shirt and when the holiday season was over, we put the shirt & photo in a ziploc bag and stored it in their "Remember Box"  (a storage box).    Our daughter is engaged, and I look forward to the day when we give her the Remember Box and maybe even see her little ones can wear the same tee! 

We have collected a Christmas ornament each year for our children, too.  We try to choose one that reflects a significant event or achievement that year.  (We recommend that you write the year on the decoration with a permenant marker - we forgot to do that!)  At Christmas we hang 'evergreen' garland above their bedroom windows and hang their ornaments on it - which is a great time to reminisce about their lives with them.  Then, when they move into their own place, they have a whole collection of decorations for their tree that carries their memories of home.  (For older children you can put the garland on the window sill because they like to handle the ornaments and remember their past Christmases.)

Baby's First Christmas

Here are some designs that you can find on bibs, onesies & t-shirts.  Some can even be purchased on ceramic ornaments which are flat, so they are easy to write the date on the back.  Some are also available on cards which are a great way to protect those photos of your darling that you send to family and friends.
